Beyond the quaint colourful homes and cobbled streets, reside a community which is renowned for their hospitality and unique cooking style which draws on the rich history and diversity of the area.
We invite you to experience the heart of the Bo-Kaap with an unforgettable and authentic cooking experience in the home of a local Bo-Kaap family. Here you will learn how to mix Masala, fold Samoosas, and balance the delicate flavours of a Cape Malay curry.
This experience not only feeds the tummy but also the soul- while sipping on a glass of falooda (a traditional, lightly rose-scented milk drink) our hostess will regale you with stories that demonstrate the unique ways in which food, history, politics and religion are interwoven in Bo-Kaap culture. This hands-on experience ends with a traditional sit-down meal with your newly made friends- after all, food is the ingredient that binds us together.
