There is nothing quite like a languid drive through the Cape Winelands, with its beautiful mountain ranges, endless vineyards and manicured Cape Dutch estates, to soothe the soul.
The first stop on this leisurely tour to the wine country is the Fairview wine farm (est 1693). Apart from its award winning wines, this beautiful farm is renowned for its artisanal cheeses. Wine and cheese are ageless companions and we invite you to enjoy a delectable Cheese & Wine Pairing.
From here you will head to Franschhoek – a little piece of the French Countryside in Africa. The town was established in the 17th century when the French Huguenots arrived at the Cape and is often called the Gourmet Capital of South Africa.
For lunch you will be spoilt for choice as the town boasts some of the best eateries in the Cape- our guide will assist you in selecting a fine dining establishment. Whether its traditional French food, South African or Indian cuisine that you after, Franshoek has something to suit every palate. Whatever your choice be sure to ask your sommelier to suggest some of the world-famous local wines to accompany your meal.
After lunch, we invite you to explore at your leisure the boutique stores and fine architecture of the village. Don’t forget to look out for the giant teddy bear on the main road for an adorable photo opportunity. Hand-made Belgian chocolate, home-made ice cream, bespoke jewelry, hand-crafted furniture and timeless art pieces all vie for attention in this town with French flair and true African hospitality.
Our journey continues over the scenic Helshoogte Pass to the Jewel of the Cape Winelands- the prestigious Delaire Graaf Estate where wine, diamonds and art collide in a luxury experience like no other.
After experiencing this world class venue and its majestic scenery we head back to Cape Town via the second oldest town in South Africa- Stellenbosch. Your guide will point out the most famous landmarks before you make your way back to the hustle & bustle of city life.
